Create Company Database Data Space Parameter Change

I'm trying to create a company in GP 2015. The wizard does not provide an option for changing the initial data and log size parameters. If I continue through the wizard a SQL create database script is fashioned and the size parameter is 50mb and 20mb for the data and log respectively. That SQL script then fails because the model database on my SQL server instance is 1027MB and the log is 1153MB. Therefore the SQL create database script with a size specified as 50mb will fail because the model database of 1027MB cannot fit in 50MB. Is there a way to alter the default data and log sizes the create company wizard uses? If I am somehow able to modify these defaults to 1027MB and 1153MB for data and log sizes I feel the wizard will work. Thanks

I was able to resolve this by using SQL Server Management Studio and shrinking the database below 50MB and shrinking the files for both the database and the logs. My log files were still well above 20MB (the GP Utilities default size for log) but the size of the log didnt seem to matter. The shrink menu is visible by right clicking on the model database in the list of databases for the SQL instance being used for Great Plains.

I am not quote sure why this was an issue. Are you trying to bring a GP database over from another instance? To create a new company in GP you must first fire up GP Utilities and create the company. Then you can use SSMS to do a forced restore of your existing GP database over the database just created.  The properties of the model database are there as a model and you are free to create a database of whatever size required provided you specify the setting in your create database script. You use GP Utilities to create the database because there are housekeeping chores that need to be done in the DYNAMICS system database to accommodate this new company. You must also make sure the GL account framework of this new database matches that which exists in DYNAMICS.
