I recently received a request from a GP user to "Remove the code that deletes the component(s) from inventory (IV00200) table." I would like to know the ramifications of doing this?

    Hi,

This is the Item Serial Number Master table.

In all honesty, the question is a bit unclear.

As Patrick said, IV00200 is IV Serial Master table, that has got dependencies across IV module. Deleting anything from this table directly would have quite serious implication.

You may want to elaborate your question, to help us understand the situation before suggesting anything.

    Simply, don't do it.

IV00200 is the master table of serial number, which is reconciled against IV10200 "Purchase Receipt" and is cleared automatically once the quantities are withdrawn. History of master serial records are kept in IV30400.

Let us know if you have any further inquiries,

Currently when a device (which consist of multiple components) is added to an Invoice, a sales lines is added for each of the components in the ItemPack (this is a custom table that integrates with the inventory module) table and the serial number for each component is also added to the ItemPack table.

The end-user is requesting that the code that removes the component from the inventory (IV00200) table be deleted. What I am gathering from the request, is that because both the device itself and the components are being adjusted out of the IV00200 it is causing duplicates.

I don't know what the other think about that, but I think you better change your Select Query than change the process of GP. I mean if it's a custom table and code.
