sptotals.cnk file and upgrade to MS Dynamics 2010

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I am trying to do an upgrade to MS Dynamics 2010 from MS Dynamics 10.

We had a consultant come some time back and he installed [or did something something to add] SafePay. So I have a sptotals.cnk file that he copied to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP

on one of the workstations.

However, when I navigate to that workstation or any other workstations, I am no longer able to find that file.

My question is what was the purpose of this file and do I need this for the upgrade?

Thanks.

I recall running into the sptotals customization when doing the same upgrade for a customer - it tweaks the output file from SafePay which normally totals the check amounts less voids.  I believe some banks were requiring the voids to be added to the checks, and this cnk file makes that modification.  You can contact Microsoft support to get the updated file for GP 2010, or I've probably got it floating around on my laptop.  Good luck!

.cnk file is a custom/3rd-party GP integration package developed by your Consultant.  The reason you can't find it 'cuz the file has been deflated/un-packaged and the code has been integrated in GP on the workstation mentioned.  Look in the GP installation directory, you may notice an additional .DIC file named SPTotals.DIC or something similar.   The integrated code may or may not work in GP2010.  Setup a VM and test the .cnk with GP2010.  It seems that you need to contact your Consultant for a copy of the file.  Do you need it for the upgrade? Yes and No.  No, you don't need it for the upgrade.  Yes,  if your company still needs that integrating function.
