Items Listed in Quoting and Order Entry

How do you list only the items available for sale in the quoting and order entry module?  Right now, all raw material parts are listed and we only want the sales people to be presented with items for sale.

Thanks!

    Hi,

Which window are you looking at that you want to filter out the items not available for sale? Also, what criteria are you using to determine if the items are available?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi

If the lookup options work the same for manufacturing as they do for other areas, then your best bet is probably to set up a SmartList that shows only the items for sale (assuming they are easily identifiable by e.g. Class ID) and then set each users default lookup to link to the SmartList.

Then drop down again and select "Set as Default View".

You would need to set this for all on their login (there may be a way to do it programmatically, but I don't know).

Note:  This wouldn't stop them from looking up other items, but it does mean that when they first open the lookup window that that is the default view they see.

    Cheers

Thank you for the reply, Heather!  This is exactly what I want to do.  I have a smartlist already written, but how to I get it to appear as an additional sort?

    Thank you!

    Hi

Sorry - I hadn't spotted your reply on this - did you get it sorted for how to make it appear.  It is as a favourite rather than an additional sort.

    Cheers

Heather, thank you so much for the response.  I have save the report as a favorite; however, it doesn't show on the order entry page as a favorite that I can select.  How do I get it to appear on the View/Favorites list?

It should just be there automatically - you would have to have the SmartList in the right section.  For Item lookups, it has to be under the Items folder.

I don't know manufacturing at all, but when I just did a test in my system, I went to Cards --> Manufacturing --> Bill of Materials.  I did a lookup on the item number and I could see my favourites listed under the favourites menu.  I did a couple of spot checks in other windows with the same results.

So check that your SmartList Favourite is under the Items sub-folder in SmartList.
