How to bring down all customization from Prod to Dev and Training environments?

Hello,

I want to bring down all customizations from my prod environment down to my Dev and Training environments. I have tried this in the past and I always get errors and so I have to modify the solution and keep trying until the errors go away. Is there a way to just clear out everything in my Dev and Training Environments (like a fresh start) so that when I do bring down prod I wont get any errors?

Hi..

If it is on-premise then Easy way is to create new organization in dev & training. which will create new fresh environment and then you can bring your customization from production..

Also you can do restore database backup of production into dev & training with new organization, which will bring all customization and Data also.

What happens when I create a new org in dev and training...will that mess anything else up?

Hi,

If it is online CRM and if you have unmanaged solutions everywhere, you can copy the database of prod to dev and training. If you are maintaining unmanaged solutions in dev and managed in prod, then it will be difficult as your unmanaged customizations will vanish after copying the prod database.

Please elaborate more on the exact requirement. You should always move the customizations from dev to training and dev to prod and should not move backwards from prod to dev and training. It is a bad practice.

No.. you will have more advantage, you will have existing customization and new fresh environment. Once everything is done.. you can remove / delete organization.

You can export only unmanaged solutions.

If it is on premise then you can restore DB backup and create new Dev and training environment after that disable old dev and training environment.
