My specific question when logged on as the SA I select TOOLS, ROUTINES, PURCHASING  and I see  REMOVE COMPLETED PURCHASE ORDERS. My users do not.  How can I give a specific user access.

My more general question is how can I see what fields or screens have specific security (show, hide, read only?).  I have been thrust into the SA role without the knowledge and SA should have so please help.

Anyone out there,  please help

michael

You could start by running a this SQL script, from Victoria Yudin.  She has several helpful scripts for you to use.

    SELECT S.USERID UserID, S.CMPANYID CompanyID,

    C.CMPNYNAM CompanyName, S.SecurityRoleID

    /*coalesce(T.SECURITYTASKID,'') SecurityTaskID,

    coalesce(TM.SECURITYTASKNAME,'') SecurityTaskName,

    coalesce(TM.SECURITYTASKDESC,'') SecurityTaskDescription*/

FROM SY10500 S   -- security assignment user role

    LEFT OUTER JOIN

    SY01500 C   -- company master

    ON S.CMPANYID = C.CMPANYID

    /*LEFT OUTER JOIN

    SY10600 T  -- tasks in roles

    ON S.SECURITYROLEID = T.SECURITYROLEID

    LEFT OUTER JOIN

    SY09000 TM  -- tasks master

    ON T.SECURITYTASKID = TM.SECURITYTASKID*/

where s.SECURITYROLEID ='PO SITE USER'  --change this role ID with one of your own

You can see if the support debugging tool is still available for GP10.  It has a great feature that shows you security roles for each GP window.

    Hope this helps.

Jeff is correct. You can also look at the FAQ KB on Role Based Security:

To play off of Jeff's answer you can try the following query as well. It gives you a further scope of detail regarding the task name, description, the module its from and whether its a window, report, table etc. You can then pivot the data in excel to get some better visuals.

    SELECT

         SY10500.USERID,

         SY01400.USERNAME,

         SY01500.CMPNYNAM,

         SY10500.SECURITYROLEID,

         SY10600.SECURITYTASKID,

         SY09000.SECURITYTASKNAME,

         SY09000.SECURITYTASKDESC,

         SY09400.PRODNAME,

         SY09400.TYPESTR,

         SY09400.Series_Name,

         SY09400.DSPLNAME

     FROM SY10500

     left outer join SY01500 on SY01500.CMPANYID = SY10500.CMPANYID

     left join SY10600 on SY10600.SECURITYROLEID = SY10500.SECURITYROLEID

     left join SY01400 on SY01400.USERID = SY10500.USERID

     left join SY09000 on SY09000.SECURITYTASKID = SY10600.SECURITYTASKID

     left join SY10700 on SY10700.SECURITYTASKID = SY10600.SECURITYTASKID

     left join SY09400 on (convert(VARCHAR(4),SY10700.DICTID)

           + convert(VARCHAR(9),SY10700.SECURITYID)

           + convert(VARCHAR(4),SY10700.SECRESTYPE)) =

                       (convert(VARCHAR(4),SY09400.DICTID)

                        + convert(VARCHAR(9),SY09400.SECURITYID)

                        + convert(VARCHAR(4),SY09400.SECRESTYPE))
