Configuring Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Good

Hi All

I'm having great difficulty trying to access the CRM console from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Good app, pushed out to an iOS device.

whenever I try, I get "http error 401 - Unauthorised: Access is denied".

the CRM Web URL is not internet facing, it is setup on an internal domain.

Does CRM need to be Internet facing i.e. outside the firewall for the app to work?

In Good Control, the app is authorised for all users and the internal domain is set as Allowed in the Connection Profile.

What am I doing wrong?

Is there another step I need to take?

I've read somewhere that CRM can be tunnelled via the Good Proxy but am unable to find instructions

Thanks in advanced.

    Hi Shraddha

Afraid not. I gave up in the end because as per Mihir, the BlackBerry/Good CRM app appeared to only connect to the internet facing URL of the CRM server and not the internal. I couldn't find a way to get the app communicating on the internal URL.

It seems the app is only safeguarding the CRM data while at rest and not in transit. Perhaps the thinking behind this is that SSL (Data in transit) is enough.

    Hi HitsH,

Did you get to any conclusion on this? How did you connect your CRM with Blackberry Goods?

In our organisation also we are planning the same.

We have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 on-premise which we have to bring on mobile using Blackberry Goods.

    Any inputs will be great!!

    Regards,

    Shraddha

HitsH, they are, there isn't much documentation for it as I'm finding.  Came here for answers.

Mihir, I don't think you understand the architecture of the Good Solutions.  The Good version of the app should tunnel it's connections via the BlackBerry Proxy component of the application.

    Thanks Mihir

Is this statement from Good in 2015 regarding the "secure data tunnel" inaccurate or out of context?:

"We are pleased that the Dynamics CRM tablet app can now be securely managed through Good Technology with a solution that provides a secure container for local data, secure data tunnel, and also manages secure email and web links from the Dynamics CRM tablet app," said Bob Stutz, corporate vice president, Microsoft Dynamics CRM. "This is welcome news for our customers who will now be able to enforce central policy management such as device wipe and password management as well as enable employees to access the rich capabilities of the Dynamics CRM tablet app while enforcing corporate policies for customer data."

Are they not referring to the Good Proxy?

    Regards

    HitsH

The main reason for using the Good app is to secure your data on the device. So if the device is stolen or the user is no longer working with the company you need to protect the data stored on the mobile device.

    Thanks MihirCRM.

Can you advise what the point of deploying it via Good is then?:

    itunes.apple.com/.../id955676358

Why would someone use this app?

I was under the impression it is meant to secure a connection back to the internal domain via the Good Proxy?

    Regards

    HitsH

    Hi

Tenfold can also help in integrating Microsoft and enabling click to dial in Outlook. Our click to dial also works on webpages opened in Chrome.  They support MS Dynamics integration

As per the link below for on premise Dynamics 365 / CRM  you will need an internet facing deployment.
