Management Reporter Installation Error - "Couldn't retrieve the list of available databases: The connection attempt failed."

I am having an issue while installing MR 2012 CU10, under "Database GP Connection Information" no matter what I enter, I get the same error

"Couldn't retrieve the list of available databases: The connection attempt failed."

I checked everything according to a previous post Management Reporter 2012 RU4 GP connection error, the guy says that he opened a case with microsoft and this is bug. I tried his solution to copy and paste the password and still not working

PLEASE HELP !

    Hi everybody, please your support.
    In config MR (legacy) i use sa user and display all database, work fine , but if i use other user with sysadmin rol don work and display this message.
     
    What configuration i need in other user, i dont use SA in production servers.

    There was a named instance of SQL server install. Please follow the convention of SQLNAME\INSTANCENAME.

    The release from 7/3/2018 fix this issue for me.

    Same Issue with GP 2018 and MR CU16.  Downloaded updated CU16, with Release Date 3/2/2018, resolved the issue.

    I had this same issue at a different customer.  MR was working fine.  A windows patch was applied.  I had to load these components for 64 bit and it worked!  

    This is the second time I have had to do this and that is just weird.  THANKS

    I cannot believe it but that worked for me!!

    Did you apply the latest MR 2012 CU16 hot fix?  That resolved it for me in GP 2016.  (Haven't run into it with GP 2018 yet.)

    I am having this same issue with GP2018 and MR2012 CU16.  C'mon guys - fix this!!!!

    I also faced the same problem or Error while installing MR2012 CU15 on GP2015.

    I have installed Dexetrity Shared component of GP2013 , came out from MR configuration console .

    Rentered all MR configuration and SQL Database information it worked.

    Able to create MRdatabase on SQL server and Two services on GP2015 Application server.

    Thanks for the solution..Sharing the updates so everyone can use the same.

    I have found that it was resolved with the latest hot fixes.
