How do I get a key for Data Loader for CRM?

like the subject says How do I get a key for Data Loader for CRM? With our on prem deployment being a 2013 server we have to do something soon as 365 is ending the ability to install Office 2013 at the end of the month. After watching the Ignite video and having partner keys for Dynamic 365, it seems like Online is the way to go rather than struggling to continuously keep the on prem up to date while battling for upgrade timing and infrastructure costs.

Help is much appreciated.

Data Loader service is available as preview in North America region. You dont need a key for that.

    Please refer : blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../data-loader-service-preview-feature-for-microsoft-dynamics-crm-online-part-1-of-2

    Hi mdschock,

As prt33k said, no key is needed for the Data Loader service.

But to add to that, the service has been available globally since Dec 2015: blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../data-loader-december-release-notes

    Regards,

So I guess my thinking of why I need a key, is because there is no available method to use the tool for what it is intended for a la migrating from on-prem to online. The data loader service is only currently turned on for online to online, which while fine for training, is worthless for my needs.

    Hi,

Dataloader tool in not for online to online migration.

Dataloader accept data in CSV file format. The target can be any CRM online instance. You then need to do mapping and then start the job for migration.

If your source system in CRM On-Prem then you first need to extract data in CSV format and then load them through Dataloader.

    Thanks,
