Automate Processes

Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this question, but I wondered if someone could point me in the right direction.
I have no experience of D365 or Power Automate so am unsure where to start.

I am looking to automate steps in a process based on inventory transactions between warehouses.

Example:
Product ABC123 is transacted into Warehouse A.
In the real-world, work is done on ABC123 to convert it to a new product XYZ789.
Upon receipt of ABC123 in Warehouse A, I want to automate the necessary steps to turn it into XYZ789 maintaining batch traceability.
I want to do this without any manual trigger or input.

This may be a complicated process, but could anyone get me started with how I'd go about doing this?

    Hi Rob

    It refers to many points and business processes. It is recommended to contact your implementation consultant to handle this requirement.

    If you just want to convert A to B, use Bom and production to do this, but if you want to track the cost, quantity, etc, please contact your implementation consultant.

    Hi Rob,

    You have to setup production module to get the desired output :

    In nutshell:

    1. Create a BOM for your Raw material "ABC123" as an input item to conumse the inventory from Raw material warehouse.

    2. Get an output in receiving warehouse as Finished Good "XYZ789"

    Are you aware of production setups & configuration? Please let us know so that we can help you out to setup the module.

    with inventory movements, costing and various other timing aspects, production module would be ideal to prepare the FG/SFG

    Doing this process in D365FO would be much better

    Hi Mattguo,

    Thank you for quick response and for moving my question into the correct forum.

    We haven't gone live with the system yet, but the proposed process will significantly increase manual data entry points as our previous ERP system/process did not capture this information, hence the driver behind my question to automate this upon our implementation of Dynamics F&O!

    Yes, I would imagine using the Production BoM would be the best way for the vast majority of examples I need this functionality for.

    Is the process(ABC123 is converted to XYZ789) a production(Bom)?

    How do you manually handle this process now in the Dynamics F&O system?
