Hi,

I am using eConnect  to create a Purchase order in GP, everything is working fine except the tax is not calculated.

Is there even tax engine with eConnect POP, have anyone tried it this before?

thanks,

Re: Tax is not calculated with eConnect - Purchase order

Sales Taxes and Purchase Orders have allways been an issue.  Not because the software can't calculate a proposed tax but because there are so many variations in tax calculations, almost all of which are accepted by the states, that two different systems frequently calculate different tax amounts.  One such example is the difference between taking the total of an order and calculating the sales tax versus calculating the tax amount on each line and adding the tax up.  Frequently this results in differences that average 1/2 cent or more per line item!  Yet the state will accept either amount!

When a purchase order is issued, it becomes a contract to deliver products at a specific price.  When the sales tax is calculated and placed on the order, the vendor is supposedly obligated to accept the PO at the tax amount shown or reject the entire PO.  When the sales tax calculation is different on the vendor's system, the vendor's state wants the amount calculated by the vendor to be collected and remitted.

Calculating and listing a sales tax amount on an order can result in a rejection of the order.  Thus, it is frequently left off, allowing the vendor to calculate and apply appropriate local tax rates.
