Consolidation of companies

Posted on by 50

Hello Everyone,

I am finding it hard to find explicit information on how to do elimination journal and what I have read this far is conflicting.  I am trying to find out after I have done the consolidation in V20.02 cloud base business central - I run the G/L Consolidation Elimination report which asked me to insert a journal template name and journal batch, so naturally I assumed it would insert the elimination entries into that batch. but nothing happened. Not only when I rerun the report, the list that was there before vanished and I can't seem to reprint or find those entries.

Everyone is talking about an elimination rule but that does not exist in Business central and there is no setup that I can see with all the video that I have watched that I did not setup.  Please am I missing something?

I think I have to do the elimination journal manually but how do I see which entries unless I scrutinise the whole trial balance of 16 companies which you can see, that would be a nightmare.

please don't refer me to this site Consolidation and elimination overview - Finance | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Docs  because I just can't understand what they mean by consolidation online, I don't think this is for Business central V20.02 Saas.  I just don't have any option to post anything, anywhere - sorry a bit frustrated.

  1. I prefer to post eliminations in a database. What are my options?

You have multiple options. You can use the Consolidate online option, and include eliminations during the process or as a proposal. The transactions will be posted in the consolidation company. Alternatively, you can have a separate company that you manually create the eliminations in, and then use that company in Financial reporting or in the consolidation process.

Thank you in advance for your help

    Hello Marco,

Thank you for the reply - I think I have regained my sanity.  It seems I have to do the elimination manually from the elimination suggested report, although reading it carefully does imply that it will magically appear in a journal for me to post which is not the case.

    I will test this again.

    Thank you so much

    Hello,

I see where the frustration comes from. The link docs.microsoft.com/.../consolidation-elimination-overview you referred to is not for Business Central. It is for Finance and Operations (different product).

What you are looking for is described here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../finance-consolidated-company-reporting

    Or more directly to:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../finance-consolidated-company-reporting

    Hope it helps.

    Thank you.
