Jobs - Order Planning

We are implementing BC involving the Jobs module and purchasing customised materials. There is a need to have the Job dimensions flow through on the Purchase Order Lines and to receive the material in for future consumption.

The Order Planning function for Jobs, locks the Purchase Order Lines to the specific Job, Task and Planning Line requiring immediate consumption but satisfies the dimension requirement. The Planning and Requisition worksheet make future consumption possible but without the automatic Job dimension tagging.

Can the Order Planning function be made more flexible to facilitate immediate or future consumption? Is there an extension for this?

I think it is possible to do what you want to do and there might be a solution for it in AppSource.

I recommend you work with your partner in order to find the right solution for your business need, that can be either a customization or a 3.party app.

Setting the Reordering Policy to Order will allow you to use the Planning Worksheet to generate the PO and pull at least some of the Dimensions from the Job.  The Order policy creates 1:1 supply to demand, so it will maintain the link to the Job, therefore can pull the Dimensions.

The PO will also be received into Inventory for future consumption and note a Reservation Entry is set and will transfer from the PO line to the Item Ledger line.  The inventory will be allocated to that Job as soon as the PO is created.
