POS register not processing credit cards

(0) ShareShare

Recently our #2 register stopped processing CC's.  Computer connects to internet and to database which is in #1 register.  Everthing else works  fine but get "connection error" when we swipe a card.   Have checked all settings and everything matches #1 register which is working fine.  I have unstalled Norton, which did nothing to help.  Need both working due to trade show coming up soon.  Any ideas would be gladly taken.

Make sure the computer's time/date/time zone are correct.

The time and date and time zone are correct-as I can tell, they are identical.  self-generated??

Make sure that you are running the same version of RMS on both compters as there was a change to the TSYS setup recently that changed the TSTS gateway.

    Double check SO Admin | File  | Configuation | EDC tab | Advanced Options button | Advanced button | Credit Gateway URL in both. Should be;

    ssl1.tsysacquiring.net/scripts/gateway.dll?transact

    Jeff,

Thanks for the info.  Both computers are set up totally the same.  I have been into EDC a number of times checking to make sure every number and letter are exactly the same.  Since I am not with TSYS, my credit gateway url is:  ssl.pgs.wcom.net/scripts/gateway.dll?tranact.  And this is the same on both computers.  On the "Prefered Aquirer Advacned Options" page, I have hit the "restore defaults" button with no new results.  Still hunting for a solution......

    For what it's worth...

At least some of the EDC settings appear to be case sensitive.  When I set my system up, one PC wouldn't process cards.  All the numbers matched, except the offending pc settings had been entered in lower case.

No, there isn't a case sensitive problem.  both units were working fine until I pulled them out of the box for our last trade show.  Then one of them decided to start giving me a hard time.  It will connect to other sites just fine through IE.  This one still have me stumped.

Can you ping the ssl.pgs.wcom.net on that machine? I get 4 timeouts as one should, but it does return an IP address.  When I ping the other new address, I get a different IP address. You may have to reset you Internet Explorer setting back to default.

FWIW, when you use the built-in EDC gateway, you always go through TSYS even though you may not process with them.  Otherwise you need a 3rd party add-on to get around TSYS or a processor who has modified their settings to accept RMS transactions.

While TSYS has not changed over completely, you will eventually need to change the setting to what I mentioned in a previous posting and it will happen just like your issue, one day it works and the next it doesn't.  If you didn't try it before, humor me and try it.

I think that we may be on the right track this time.  When trying to ping from one computer to another I found that #1 data base computer will not ping with #2 nor will office computer connect with #1.  Office computer and #2 ping just fine.  This leads me to believe the problem is with the data base computer which allows #2 to process CC's.  Does this make any sense at all????  I did try to ping the EDC gatway and recieved only the 4 time outs.  To get anywhere I had to shorten it to ssl.pgs.wcom.net.  Am I on the right track?

"I have hit the "restore defaults" button" = ssl.pgs.wcom.net/scripts/gateway.dll?tranact

That means you are using Vital/TSYS, but running on older version of RMS with old Vital URLs.

Here are the current settings for Vital/TSYS as recommended by MS Dynamics.

Batch Size: 100 (this is default but you can change this number based on your personal preference, but please make sure that the number matches on all terminals)
    Credit Gateway URL: ssl1.tsysacquiring.net/scripts/gateway.dll?transact
    Debit Gateway URL: ssl2.vitalps.net
    Debit Gateway Port: 5003
This setting is found in Store Operations Administrator under File | Configuration | EDC | Advanced | Advanced.
You may also want to verify that under Internet Options that the following settings are enabled.
In Internet Explorer | Tools | Internet Options | Advanced Tab | Security
    Use SSL 2.0
    Use SSL 3.0
    Use TLS 1.0
If you are using a Firewall you will want to make sure that the following two ports are enabled for incoming and outgoing traffic.
    Port 443 and Port 5003

You can test the gateway connection on each PC by visting this URL in IE:

    https://ssl1.tsysacquiring.net/scripts/gateway.dll

Does the site respond with "Default connected"?
If yes, EDC should work fine in POS.
If not, you need to reset your browser settings in IE (Options, Advanced, Restore advanced settings) and try URL again.
If not and Advanced Settings in IE have been restored, configure the firewall for Port 5003.

You can also perform same test with old URL:

    https://ssl.pgs.wcom.net/scripts/gateway.dll

Until "Default connected" appears for the URL defined, you will continue to experience the connection error in POS.

IMPORTANT: PC's system clock must be correct or you will experience same connection problem (verify date & year, not just time).

I have changed the credit and debit gateway URL on both computers (works fine on pos#1).   I do get "default connected"  from both computers when use IE.  Still get "connection error" when I try to process on POS#2.  When I try to ping form any other computer to the POS#1 (database computer), I get "request timed out".  No problem pingging out from POS#1 to any other computer.  That leaves me with the part of  last post about enableing port 443 and 5003.  I am just not that familiar with port connections to know what I am doing there.
