"Quality Measures" in production routing.

Posted on by 60

Hi,
We are a producing company who are looking for some standard functionality in BC for a "Final Quality Check" in our production.
I've setup a routing to some of the prod. bom components and then used the "Operations -> Quality Measures" section to enter some parameters that we need to be required to enter before finishing the order.

My question is: How can our staff make use of these parameters within a production order?
I have not found any way to enter values and the production order just let me finish it without any issues.

Is this feature incomplete? How do we utilize it?

Application information: BC21.1 Cloud running on a Swedish database.
Kind regards, Daniel

Hi, thank you for your replies everyone.

I used the "Simple Object Designer" application from Hougaard to add a couple of fields. I highly recommend this app for any system owner.
I added a "result" and a "comment" field for that page and now it actually works as (at least I) intended.

When I finish the prod. order I can still go to "Routing - Quality Measures" and see the results from our "Quality Check"
Thank you everyone in this thread.

To add to the answers you have already gotten here.

The quality measures you can register in Business Central is a great base of a  quality measure framework. But in most cases it will require some customization or an add-on in order to become really useful.

    Hi

To add to Robert and Jenn great answers. That field is mainly there for information. But if you use Production Order (and not posting from Output Journal) user still can enter info

In Production Order go to Line -> routings then in Routing click Line -> Quality Measure then you can see the defined Quality Measure here and you can change them. When you change status to Finished you will see info you entered in the same exact area (see below).

We are using Output Journal, hence we added this function into Output Journal and made it mandatory (development) also we made table none-editable if it linked to Finished Production Order.

    Hi there

The field is there so you can present it on the Job Card or to the Shop floor but there is no ability to enter it back or do any validation on it.

It is really just informational it seems.

So you can enter min / max / tolerance information, add it to reports but if you need validation you would need an add on like Insight Works.

    I stand corrected!

I am rather amazed that I never noticed this feature.  I talked to Jenn from Sabre and she knows about it but basically it's useless.  She'll answer here.

Hi Robert, Thank you for your reply.
"Routing Quality Measures" do not belong to any extension.

I've looked everywhere for some kind of documentation for this, and I've found like two forum posts without any answers.
I have not found any Microsoft documentation explaining this function or how it is used in production/routing scenarios.

I'm 99% sure you have an addon or customization for Quality Measures.  It's not a standard feature.

Try pressing CTRL-ALT-F1 on that page and "Page Inspection" will open after 2-3 seconds.  Click on the "Extensions" tab.  The only standard Extension for this page is Base Application.  You will probably see some extra extensions.  Look at the "by xxx" under the extensions.  You almost certainly need tech support from the company that represents that extension.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you Danielle,

I have read the documentation but it does not say anywhere where the staff can enter the parameters for quality measures or how it works.

    Kind regards, Daniel
