Plus button for subgrid in Service Activity

I have a subgrid in my Service Activity (serviceappointment) entity. The subgrid doesn't have the usual + sign for Add New/Add Existing. I have to click the button on the top to create it.

Is there a way to get the + sign?

I've tried removing some/all the Display Rules and Enable Rules in Subgrid Ribbon Workbench but it still doesn't show.

    Hi Jarren,

The Referral sub-grid is a sub-grid to Connections with Connection Role = Referral, is this correct?

Please read this blog by Scott Durow (author of RibbonWorkbench) regarding the default behavior of custom connection sub-grid, and you may want to use his solution:

    Hi Abby,

The Referral entity is a custom entity we've made. Scott's post was really neat but while his enables a better subgrid on the NEW forms, I want to enable the plus button on OLD forms.

And it seems to only work for Connections unless I'm mistaken. Thanks though.

    Hi Jarren,

    Sorry I misunderstood your question.

I give it a try myself on this form with a new custom entity with Ribbon workbench and I see what you mean now: Service Activity form is rendered in the old way without '+' with sub-grid:

When I click on sub-grid, THE Add a New {0} and New{0} ribbon buttons show in List Tools at the top.

Went back into a CRM2011 environment to check, grids are rendered in this way without '+' button with sub-grids. I don't think this is achievable at this point, maybe someone else can provide a solution.

Alternatively, you can use web resource to give users a similar experience:

Create a web resource with '+' button to open a new Referral record form (pass on current Service Activity id), and place it above the grid.  I'm not sure if this is a good idea since it only saves one click for users:

    • '+' button (1 click)
    • click on grid, click New in List Tool (2 clicks)

    Hi Abby,

That's a way. It's mostly because Users want the visibility of the plus button next to the subgrid rather than it being "hidden" until you click the grid.

    Thanks.

This is because of the classical form as service activity still use classical form instead of updated form, you can try to add a custom button instead and can hide out of the box button.

Yeah, you're right. Should I not be using Service Activity entity?
