2015 SL CU2 -- Can't install the SDK

I've just installed Dynamics SL 2015 CU2. On that server machine I have installed both Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2012 with Service Pack 5. I have opened and used both versions of Visual Studio on that machine.

I tried installing the SDK from the CU2 distribution, but it went almost all the way to the end, and then gave the following Message:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact you support personnel or package vendor.

So I tried installing the SDK from the original installation package, rather than the CU2 package, but got the same error.

I don't know what else to try. We previously had Dynamics SL 7.0 on this machine.

Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It has something to do with the .NET Development Framework. I had to setup a new laptop and installed Visual Studio 2019, and got the same error message. Now I know Dynamics SL 2018 was developed with VS 2010, so I installed that version on my laptop. However, I also opened one of my development projects, that I had created and runs fine on my old laptop using VS 2019 and that uses the Dynamics SL SDK, and when I tried opening this project with VS 2019, the Visual Studio Installer message popped up that I was missing some things from the .NET Development Framework. I was presented with an Install Now button so I clicked on it and let VS Installer complete. Then I was able to go back to the SL Installation and installed the SDK without getting the message. I'm not sure if what my install of VS 2010 that did the trick, or if it was the VS Installer fixing the .NET Development Framework, but I hoping this will help you get to the bottom of the issue.
