Hi, when I migrated from QB, i noticed that the item description is blank for all the part but item number and the open transactions are there. I used the RMT. any idea how to update the part description? the integration manager license was only valid for 6 months (that I believe it's no longer valid)

    OK, Twilight Zone time!

After you did your SQL update, if you do a SQL Select statement select itemnmbr, itemdesc from IV00101 do you see the changes? In GP are you going to Cards->Inventory Items to see the descriptions? Are you in the correct company? Make sure when you are in GP that you are not sitting on that item. The update statement would look like this: update iv00101 set itemdesc='New Description' where itemnmbr='Item Number'

interesting when I updated one record in that table to see if the GP reflect the item description,  the table got updated. However, GP still shows the same result . i.e. item description doesn't reflect as the updated one. I am updating the correct database and table seeiv100101! it's a simple sql update where itennmbr = XXXX set itemdesc='YYYY'

Odd, in mine the iten number is the item number and the item description is the item description. Can you dump the QB data into an Excel Spreadsheet and then dump that into SQL and then finally do the update?

But  the table SeeIV100101 contains the same values - both item number and description are same (which is not the case in QB).

The first three letters must be randomly generated then. I would use that table to up date the IV00101 table.

I don't see the table  rmtIV00101.  But I see a table  seeIV00101 that seem hold item number and description.

In the UI GP 2010, I see the item description, (correction that it wasn't blank) but item description is same as item number.  Which is not the case in QB. We have descriptive name for the items.

Are the work tables form the RMT still there in your company database? Look for tables that begin with rmt. If so, you will find one call rmtIV00101. A simple update query here will be all that is needed to update the part descriptions. If you need help with this just drop me a private message.

If you're talented with SQL, you could import these item descriptions directly. Although I would be very cautious and take all precautions in doing this. Your best option would be to work with your organization's GP partner on this.
