"Reporting Unit" in Column Definition of Management Reporter

(0) ShareShare

Hello:

We have a report definition that is pulling in a reporting tree.  We have a column definition in this report definition that is, also, configured to pull in this same reporting tree.

When I take a look at this column definition, something strange occurs.

When I double-click on the "Reporting Unit" field in the Column Definition, the tree listed in the drop-down list at the top of the window is listed as a different tree.  So, I afterward choose the correct tree and Save.

Then, when I later reopen that column definition, it is "pointing" to the correct tree.

When I exit Management Reporter and come back in, however, the Reporting Unit field of the Column Definition is once again pointing to a different tree.  Again, when I save it after pointing to the correct tree, it stays that way until I exit and come back in to Management Reporter.

Is this a bug?  If so, is it something to be concerned about?  What's odd is that our reports are accurate.  It's just strange.

We are on Management Reporter 2012 CU13 with the Legacy Provider.

Thanks!

John

    Hi John,

The Reporting Unit of the Row or Column doesn't really store the specific tree that you select.  It only keeps the path within the tree.  Then when you run the report it looks at the tree assigned to the report and makes sure that path you assigned within the row or column exists within the tree.  That's why when looking at the column in that field you only see "Summary^Unit1^Child^2" or something similar and nothing that actually references the tree name.

Also I believe when first double clicking on the Reporting Unit field it just pulls up the tree listing in alpha order, not necessarily the one you were using for the tree.
