Customizing Dashboards in CRM Dynamics 365

I started with customizing dashboards for my client. I want to show a tag chart(  cases by product) in my service dashboard. I noticed that the associated chart is present under the entity case and view used is 'My Active Cases'. But when I try to create a chart in my dashboard, on choosing entity as case and view as 'My Active Cases', I don't get the option 'Cases by product' listed in the drop down list. Why is it so any suggestions?

    Hi Mohd Tahir,

The chart "cases by product" is a tag chart. Unfortunately, it is not possible to add tag charts to dashboards.

    Hi Mohd,

One option here would be to enable Power BI within your environment for visualizations.  You should be able to enable Power BI in System Settings under reporting.

You can then utilize PowerBI desktop to connect to Dynamics 365 with "Get Data" and you can add in all of your entities needed to create the visualization and finally utilize the Word Cloud to do what you wanted here.

    https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/visual-awesomeness-unlocked-the-word-cloud/

Once you create the dashboard tile you will be able to add right in to the dashboard in Dynamics 365 through the Dashboard configuration, very straight forward.

Hope this helps Mohad!  The Power BI integration is great and provides a lot of additional visualization options!

    Thanks,

But Sree how will I get to know which ones aren't eligible to be used in dashboards?

I welcome your suggestion @Drew, but please tell me to use power BI in my dynamics do I need to use another separate paid license ?? Or will I be able to use it for free?

You should be able to utilize the free license for your initial needs here.  You can access it right from the main portal in Office 365 otherwise you can navigate to www.powerbi.com and login with your credentials there.  Let me know if any issues and I can help you through it.  It will refresh the dashboard on a limited basis, daily for an Online environment like Dynamics 365.

Take a look at this, should help you get going:

    Thanks much,

I have checked with other types of charts. It is possible to add them but a tag chart cannot be added to a dashboard.

    Hi Drew,

I have learnt that we can add power BI dashboards directly for a user. But that is specific to a user. How can I create or add a power BI dashboard within "Customizations", so that as an admin I can assign permissions for it which is not specific to a single user. Like we do for out of the box dashboards ( directly enabling security access roles within customizations) and not as a personalized dashboard. I hope you understand it.

    Dear Dew,

I am new in Power BI, I have to develop the Dashboard for the Dynamics CRM.

I have gone through many post, but of no use. I explain here my scenario. I am taking Project and Service module for dashboard development. I wanted to connect Project entity. I used following link, I am able to view the table but updated data is not there.

https://<myorganizationame>.api.crm4.dynamics.com/api/data/v9.0/ - it is throwing error.

https://<myorganizationame>.api.crm4.dynamics.com/api/data/v8.0/ - it is giving me full table but data is not updated.

https://<myorganizationame>.api.crm4.dynamics.com/api/data/v8.1/ - it is giving me full table but data is not updated.

https://<myorganizationame>.api.crm4.dynamics.com/api/data/v8.2/ - it is giving me full table but data is not updated.

https://<myorganizationame>.api.crm4.dynamics.com/api/data/v8.9/ - it is giving me full table but data is not updated.

related table has no data or old data.

I mean currently i have 100 records (in the UI) but in the table it is showing only 5 records.

Could you please guide me, how can I fix this problem
