Compiler error - XML Render RMS v1.2

Hello:  Still running version 1.2 of RMS without issues for years but recently had a computer malfunction so had to reinstall.  Using Epson TM-88 receipt printers and generic cash drawer.  Two registers.  After installing and setting up using same parameters as before HDD failure, I am now suddenly getting this XML render error whenever processing a transaction.  I first get 'compiler error: token original was not found'.  Then compiler error: token receipt not found'.  It does eventually resolve (meaning transaction goes through) but highly annoying.  Any ideas on how to fix would be appreciated.

    You need to reload your Receipt Template.  

    The error is saying tokens "original" and "receipt" are not valid,  which means you are either missing part of the receipt variable definition or have a corrupt receipt template.  

    Or you have something called "original receipt" in the template and it should be surrounded by quotes and it is not.

    Thank you Michael for the info..........bit the bullet and am upgrading to version 2.0.  Now it will be interesting if my hardware (old Epson printers TM-88II) will like the upgrade.  Also, updating OS to Windows 8 from XP.  I'm a Mac guy so all this Windows stuff is mind-boggling!!  Thanks for your advice!

    Apparently it is most likely an issue with the Receipt XML format, and/or the XML versions being used in your Windows and RMS versions. Please check your Windows updates for any recent or as yet uninstalled updates having to do with XML on all machines.

    Also check the Receipt format, here's some info on that:

    Hi Michael:

    Thanks for the response.  Yes, our next step is an upgrade but in the meantime I still need to use this version.  We've never seen these errors and all we did was reinstall the program with exactly the same hardware.  I would like to find out why we suddenly get these XML render issues.  Is there a way to fix it?

    Sorry, I see you are having trouble now, but in order to save more frustration and downtime in the near and farther future, I would recommend renewing your annual MS plan and upgrading. It's a pretty easy upgrade, and there are a whole bunch of added and enhanced features, plus a huge utility bundle you can get for free with your renewal, plus you get free support from MS.

    I've helped dozens of companies do this that actually came to me ready to switch to Retail Pro, CounterPoint (the other two systems I work with), or whatever else.  

    They were able to renew, upgrade and revamp their systems and operations for a fraction of what it would've cost to switch, and then they were able to greatly increase their sales, expand, save time and money by helping to automate and speed up manual processes, etc.
