Question about accessing D365 Sales Team Member application with Operation Activity -license

Posted on by 4

We are being told (by MS)  that we should be able to access D365 Sales Team Member application with Operations Activity -license + Team Member -role.

However our findings does not support that and running application access checker also resulted into the outcome that user does not have appropriate license.

We are still told to that it is supposed to be possible to access D365 Sales Team Member application with the mentioned license/role combo.

We are getting confused here and and were are seeking for an explicit answer.

Question about accessing D365 Sales Team Member application with Operation Activity -license
    Hi,

Thank You very much for Your replies!

As an comment to Andre's post:  I meant Sales Team Members -application as referred in licencing guide page 35 (see below abt. Team Members licence).

On Judy's comment:  the linked document also confirms our findings.

To simplify the question: Is it possible to make Sales Team Members -application available to user with Operations Activity -license w/ Team Member -role ?

Our interpretation would have been that it is not possible to access Sales Team Members -application with Operations Activity -license w/ Team Member -role,
but as said in the original question; we are being told (by MS) that it is supposed to be possible.

cut n' paste from licence guide starts:

    Operations – Activity license
The Operations – Activity user license provides limited access to the Commerce, Finance, Human Resources,
Project Operations, and Supply Chain Management applications
. Operations – Activity use rights include all
Team Members use rights as well as the right to:
    • Approve all Operations – Activity related transactions (see Appendix F for details).
    • Create or edit items related to warehousing, receiving, shipping, orders, vendor maintenance, and all
    budgets
    • Operate a point-of-sale (POS) device, store manager device, shop floor device, or warehouse device.

    Team Members licenses
The Dynamics 365 Team Members user license grants a named user the following rights for Customer Service
Team Members, Sales Team Members and Project Operations Team Members application modules
    . These
rights are for their own use and not for activities for, or on behalf of, other people. (For instance, the license
doesn’t grant managers the right to perform the same actions for direct reports.)

Question about accessing D365 Sales Team Member application with Operation Activity -license
    Hi CRM Main user,

I don't know what you mean with the app "D365 Sales Team Member". Do you mean the team member functions of Dynamics 365 Sales?

If so, there is one single Team Members license for all features for team members across the Dynamics 365 apps. An Operations - Activity license grants access to Team members functions. The same is valid for the Dynamics 365 F&O base licenses, such as Finance and SCM. The users must be granted permission to access Dynamics 365 Sales features.

You can read more about it in the Licensing Guide

If it is all working and the application access checker is still mentioning incorrect licenses, I would suggest opening a ticket for Microsoft Support.
