    Hi,

As a non-develop I cant give you exact instructions, however, I would suggest to start with MS Learn. It gives you a good overview what is necessary.

Keep in mind there are quite a lot of topics to cover before you can customize and deploy a solution\project.

    Kind regards, Adis

Moved from Integration, Dataverse, and general topics forum to Finance | Project Operations, Human Resources, AX, GP, SL forum, because your screenshot shows that you're actually interested in either Dynamics AX or D365FO.

Unfortunately, development in Visual Studio Code isn't supported by either Dynamics AX or F&O. The VS Code extension mentioned in your screenshot wouldn't allow you do all you need for development.

Assuming that you're talking about F&O (please confirm), you have three options:
    1. You'll use a so-called Unified Dev Environment (UDE). It means that you'll deploy an F&O environment in Dataverse and develop using your local installation of Visual Studio (not Visual Studio Code).
    2. You'll deploy a pre-installed virtual machine from LCS to Azure and develop there.
    3. You'll download a pre-installed virtual machine, run it locally and develop there.

    1. You can set up as many environments you want. Of course, it has implications. For example, VMs in Azure costs quite a lot of money when running and some money (for storage) when stopped. Usually each developer has a single environment.
    2. The logical starting point is the documentation: Deploy and access development environments.
    3. Yes - see also the documentation above. But note that clients should normally use test environments, not development environments.

It might help, depending on what you decide to do and if you can do it at all (e.g. you have an F&O licence).

Please give us some context. What do you need the asset library for? You seemed to want a cloud-hosted environment and I can't remember anything in the asset library you need for that. Also, you didn't mention which asset library you're talking about - there is a shared one and than a library of each project.

    Hi Dineshkarlekar,

Based on the discussion, a few suggestions:
    1. Looks like you are looking to setup an on-premise Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations environment. This means you own the Azure subscription and you link your Azure subscription with the LCS subscription. To do you need to do the following:
       - Create a LCS project and grant your self project owner permissions on the LCS project.
       - Have an Azure subscription ready and link the Azure subscription with your LCS subscription through the Azure connector. While creating the Azure
connector you will get an Azure Resource manager (ARM) based certificate that you need to manually upload to the Azure portal under your Azure
subscription. This links your LCS Subscription with the Azure subscription.
          (Reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/templates/deploy-portal)
       - If you have Azure key vaults setup, then you need to attach that certificate to an Azure key vault.
          (Reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/key-vault/certificates/tutorial-import-certificate?tabs=azure-portal

    2. Secondly, when you setup a Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations environment, you get D365 FO tools - FO development tools with Visual studio, trace parser in a readily built D365 FO VM.
    3. The application is an IIS based web application on which the Application object server (AOS) runs - core service for D365 FO.

    Visual Studio:
    1. Visual studio code is currently not supported for D365 FO development.
    2. Its standard Visual studio - Professional and Enterprise Edition that is supported for D365 FO development.
Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions, if any.
