PTE Dates With Internet Explorer 11/Windows 8

Posted on by 77

Hi all,

We've got about 50 users successfully using GP2015 PTE via Internet Explorer 11 for their timesheets. For the most part it's going well, however the few users we currently have on Windows 8 are experiencing an issue when entering date fields in PTE.

These users' date fields are pre-populated in an unusual date format:

As opposed to our other users who see this:

The format is neither here nor there, but when users with the top date format click into the date field or lookup a date, the box clears itself and shows a bunch of zeros, and nothing I do will let me change that. Worst of all, with the date field being invalid, I can't proceed with the timesheet or leave the screen, so I have to kill IE to exit GP.

Any suggestions on how to fix this is much appreciated.

Shaun

Update: We've managed to get around it my changing the regional settings on the offending PCs to use a short date which is number-based only. Thanks :)

    Hi Shaunm

Two things come to my mind :

    1. On windows 8 are you using the desktop IE browser or the Metro Browser ?

    2. Have you checked the 'Compatibility View' settings on both browser options ? (Win7 vs. Win8)

The date formatting could also be influenced by the Regional settings of the user's profile in Windows.. Check what they are using in the Control Panel.
