Hi,

We have been using Model driven apps in dynamics CRM, however recently came across the terminology model driven PowerApps.

Is there any difference between Model driven PowerApps and Model driven Apps or just a different naming convention.

When I checked the documentation, Id o not find any difference as such.

Any insights on this topic is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rilsina,

In my understanding, Model-driven apps (or applications) refer to a more broad definition of the concept, as outlined here:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model-driven_application

model-driven application is a software application that the functions or behaviors are based on, or in control of, some evolutionary applied models of the target things to the application. The applied models are served as a part of the application system in which it can be changed at runtime. The target things are what the application deals with, such as the objects and affairs in business for a business application. Follows the definition of application in TOGAF,[1] a model-driven business application could be described as an IT system that supports business functions and services running on the models of the (things in) business.

Whereas the Model-driven PowerApps are applications that use the model-driven design concepts inside the PowerApps platform: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/model-driven-apps/model-driven-app-overview

Welcoming any different views on the topic.

    Regards,

    Oana

    Hello,

It's the same thing. Microsoft uses PowerApps term to collect 3 different types of apps (Model Drive, Canvas and Portal) under one umbrella.

    Hello,

If my reply (or replies) answers your question take a minute and verify the answer. You can do it by clicking "Yes" at the top of the reply (or replies) under the label "Does this answer your question?"
