advanced find customer contacts + email

Hi, I am using CRM 3.0 and I am trying to extract a list of just Customer contact email addresses.

So far I have been able to run an Advanced Find to get either just Customer accounts (basic company info, no contacts associated), OR an Advanced Find to get ALL contact email addresses in our database, but I can't figure out how to filter it to *just* Customer contact email.

There has got to be a way to do this, otherwise what is the point of the application?  I had about 10 minutes training on CRM before the previous person in this position quit!

    Hi Reba,

This is doable by specifying a filter in your advanced find.

Create an advanced find to search contacts.  Then select the columns you want.  In the filter area, select customer (parent account) type == customer.

Basically you want to specify a filter to only display contacts that have a parent account of type customer.

I don't know, it may be the way our CRM is set up, but that doesn't work for me.

If I do the Advanced Find from Accounts, and choose Customer = Yes (Y or N being my only choices on that filter) and email = contains data I get nothing.

If I do the Advanced Find from Contacts, I don't have a filter to choose Customer accounts, it isn't there.

    Hi Reba,

It has been a while since i've seen a crm 3.0 screen, so the field may be called somethign else.

But we should be able to do an Advanced Find from Contacts and in the filter select Related Parent Customer or Account Or customer (can't remember name) and then select the field customer = yes.

Thanks for all your help Alex!

I just don't have any of those filters to choose from.  I'm guessing that somewhere along the way they got lost, or someone deleted them inadvertently or something!  They're just not there.

I guess my next move is to find out how to get those selections in there????

I have another related question, I hope you can help!

When I run and Advanced Find on some of my Accounts to get the list of contact emails, on some accounts it is skipping over some contacts, and on some other accounts it is not giving me any contacts at all, even though they're in there.  It doesn't seem to matter whether the check-box for "active" is checked or not.

I can't figure out why it is doing this.

    Hi Reba,

Take a screen shot of your Advanced Find logic and paste into you next post and we will take a look at it. Use the rich formatting option.

Sorry, how do I put the screen shot here?

Not that it'll help, because the Advanced Find is working perfectly on some accounts, but not on others.  The same logic, just different account name.  On some it is not giving me any output at all, even though there are contacts with email addresses in the account, and on others it is giving me some contacts, but skipping others, even if they have an email address.

It is a little hard to read, next time just grab the advanced find logic lines if you could. Take the Company filter out of the advanced find and run it again. Do the Contacts show up then?
