Is it possible to perform Performance testing of MS Dynamics 365 online ? If yes, then which tools can be used to perform the performance testing ? Is it feasible and useful ?

Microsoft apply throttling limits on Dynamics 365 Online, which could well impact any performance testing. You can try contacting Microsoft Support to see if they will relax these limits for your performance testing

It is possible to performance test Dynamics 365. A popular tool for this is StresStimulus.
You can also use fiddler , sometimes which helps lot .

LoadRunner is another tool which I have used in past for performance testing a Dynamics application.

Fiddler will work for online and on-premise both.
We have used Visual studio webtest recorder to record scenarios & load tested with VSTS. Fiddler can be used to record & save as webtest.

In a different project, we have used HP Loadrunner as well.
Not so great experience, but managed with metrics sampling & extrapolate.
