As suggested above, you will have to check the lookup view or the view you selected and see if there any columns in the view or in the filter criteria that is not there anymore or type changed.
If the issue still persists, you might have to think about raising a ticket with MS.
Note : There are other community members who reported about lookup control errors and the MS has responded to one of them saying they will apply a fix in June.
Same problem in Chrome, but works fine in Edge.
Please Try removing the field from the form, Publish customizations, restart CRM and add the field again in the form. If it does not work, then there may be an application bug caused by migration CRM Online from v.8 to v9 and Microsoft has released a patch to solve this.

This error generally occurs if the underlying view has some problem like invalid column. I would suggest to go to customizations and check the account lookup view for any errors.
