ACA - data carrying over from 2015 to 2016

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi...I have a client who is trying to stay ahead for her 2016 filings.  So...she is checking the 2016 forms (such as they are) to make sure they are complete/accurate when an employee has a change in status in 2016.

She has noticed that the codes are not carrying over to the forms in 2016.

For example, employee XXXX was full-time with benefits (1E/2C) for all of 2015, as were his dependents.  The plan is self-funded so Part III was filled out as "covered all 12 months" for the employee and his dependents (in 2015).

Employee XXXX status changed to terminated on 4/7/16. On the 2016 form, the Jan, Feb, Mar, April blocks are empty (should be 1E/2C) but then May-Dec is correct (1H/2A).

Also...in Part III all the dependents show as still being covered all 12 months (in 2016) but there are no blocks checked for the employee.  It should show all of them being covered for Jan/Feb/Mar/April only.

UPR00904 and UPR00905 are consistent with what is outlined above...the concern is

1) why are lines 14/15/16 not being filled out on the 1095-C for 2016

2) why is Part III not showing the adjustment to the employee's coverage appropriately

Please let me know any assistance you can provide, or what we need to do to fix.

Thank you!

RE: ACA - data carrying over from 2015 to 2016

Hi Terry...has the update for GP2013 been released yet?  I saw where the updates for GP2016 and GP2015 had come out, but nothing for GP2013? Unless I just missed it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

We have one issue outstanding with the cross over of years.  We will be fixing this in the mid - year tax update due to release the middle of June, once you apply that, your forms will be fine.  Employees that started in 2016 are all fine, it is just if they cross over and change, then we are miss reporting.

    Thanks

RE: ACA - data carrying over from 2015 to 2016

While I can't answer your question definitively, my assumption is that Microsoft will likely need to make changes to the year-end process to account for this scenario. Forms for 2016 will be the first time the year end process had to consider information in the 904/905 tables from prior years. I would guess that if you created a January 2016 record in the 904 table, your 1095-C would code as you expect. Assuming this is the case, I would suggest making Microsoft aware of the issue so that they have time to get it fixed prior to January 2017. I would love to know if my suggestion is accurate. Hope this helps.
