Chunk File Not Executing New Code

Hello All,

We have an issue where when we deploy a chunk file, the new code seems not to get executed properly. An earlier version(code) of the chunk file had been deployed, and still seems to be the one working i.e. the new(er) code seems to be unable to overwrite the old code. Any ideas would be welcome.

sounds like a permissions issue, maybe you can't edit the dic/set files? Manually backup/delete/move the old product .dic file, and remove the entry from the dynamics.set file.  try rechunking again, you should see the product dic file recreate, and the entry should be readded to the set file.  backup the files before changing them!  you may need to put the old files back!

    Peter,

That sounds like you probably have the wrong version of the chunk file for your version of GP. GP will prompt you to include new code anytime a .cnk file is present in the GP folder regardless of compatibility.

    Kirk,

Am gonna try that. The instance that is not working is on the server, and is accessed by other users via Rdweb. The code executed successfully on a pc that is running a different version of GP. But I will do a separate install matching the server version and test. Thanks

Copy the GP folder from a working workstation and overwrite it on the problem workstation. This should let you circumvent the issue.

Some workstations are working fine. But on this workstation, even GP uninstall has not resolved the issue.

    Peter,

Is the .cnk file still present in that folder after clicking yes to include the new code?

    Hello Kirk,

Yes it is prompting, and seemingly executing without an error.

    Hi Peter,

Is it prompting you to include new code when you launch GP as an administrator? Is the chunk file located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2013? (64bit workstation running GP 2013). Does the issue occur on all workstations?

    Regards,

    Kirk

    Hello,

Even after I run GP 'as administrator', the new code still does not overwrite the old code. IS there any registry entry for Dex code/chunk code ?

Are you launching GP with 'Run as Administrator"?  That is something I tend to forget when loading new code.
