Manufacturing - reverse issue question

i'm trying to reverse issue a component that was issued after the MO was completed. the MO has been changed to released and the finished good post is reversed. we were also able to reverse issue another component transaction that was issued prior to it being completed. we are only have an issue with the transaction that was done after the MO was complete. the quantity in the component trx entry window shows as 0 when i change the Restrict Items To "Show All". I've tried overriding it but i'm not able to select a bin (the field is grayed out). has anyone run into this before? any suggestions on how to handle it?

Thanks!

As far as selecting a bin, it will only reverse into the original bin it was pulled from.   I know Blue Moon had created a custom for a Mfg client I had run into, but am not sure if it is still available as it was created prior to GP 10.

So, to answer your question, I don't think you have any options for bin selection.  Sounds like that is the question you are asking.

in a normal circumstance (components issued before finished good created), it does default to the bin that was used originally and that's what it did when we reverse issued the component that was issued prior to the MO becoming complete. I'm wondering if there is a way to reverse issue a component that was issued after the MO became complete.

    Thanks!

You would have to do a reverse receipt of the FG or subassembly (MO Receipt window).   That will make the components visible to reverse issue.    If the MO has a status of closed, it would be a manual process using IV adjustments.

The MO is not closed. It did have a Complete status, and we've changed the status to Released. We've done the reverse receipt of the FG. We've done a reverse issue of one of the component transactions (there were two). We do not seem to be able to do a reverse issue for the second component transaction that was done after the MO was completed (FG receipt done) even though the FG receipt is reversed. GP doesn't seem to be recognizing that we still have a component transaction to reverse, and I think this is becasue it was issued after the MO was complete (FG created). Is there a way to reverse issue a component that was issued to the MO after it was completed (all FG created)?

    Thanks.

At what point did you edit the picklist?   Prior to any issues?  After MO receipt?

On a side note, I am assuming you are std cost environment.   If you are actual, then this business process of issuing after MO receipt will result in incorrect costing.

The picklist that was built when the MO was scheduled and included all components. However, the components were issued on two seperate pick documents. One was done prior to the MO receipt, and we have reverse issued this one. The other was done after the MO receipt. This is the one that we cannot seem to reverse issue.

Yes, we are in a standard cost environment. We've had this issue before, and previously I've closed the MO and then processed an inventory adjustment to bring the inventory back in and offset the variance account. I want to make sure there isn't a way to do this through the MO process though before doing that again.

    Thanks.

What version are you on?   I am testing it out on GP2010 and it works in the process you have outlined.   I am also using a lot numbered item.

We are on GP10 SP 5. We do not use lots. And the component is not tracked by serial number.

After doing some testing, I can only reverse what was not consumed by the FG.   If this is consistent with what you see, you will probably have to do the IV adj.    If not the case, there is probably more to it and Microsoft may have to get involved.
