Deleting Pay codes

It use to be that you couldn't delete a pay code from an employee if it had history attached to it.  Now it appears that if there is no activity in the current year, you can delete a pay code from an employee.  Is there a security setting that will prevent people from deleting pay codes from employees no matter what year the activity is from?

    Hello DixieDynamics.

    You are correct that the system won't let you delete a paycode from an employee if there is activity in the current year because it needs that paycode to calculate the year-end wage file.  But in a year with no activity, you can delete it if it hasn't been used yet in that year.

    If you don't want users to be able to delete paycodes, perhaps one option would be to use Field Level Security.    You could take away access to the DELETE button in the Employee Paycode Maintenance window from all users.

    Go Tools | setup | System | Field Level Security, click ADD at the bottom.  Name it and select Microsoft Dynamics GP .  Expand Payroll.  Expand Employee Pay Code Maintenance.   Select 'Main: Employee Pay Code Maintenance'.  Select the 'delete button'.  You can choose to Disable field, or Lock field, or Password protect it.  Save it.  Then in the field level security window, it will now be listed in the middle of the window, and you can select it and mark the user ID's that you want this to be applied to.
