What is true is that each solution has a scope and functionality, which deserves that you can review it, and see if it fits with what you require. You can find very complex or lighter solutions.

I love analogies, and your question is similar to "What is the best way to make Chili?" Every chef is going to have their opinion, and the people eating the Chili are going to have different opinions. Where a question that is more targeted is going to result in better solutions for your specific needs, such as "What is the best venison-based chili that includes kidney beans and noodles?"

If you can provide a more specific functional goal, you'll be able to get much better solutions suggested. Be as specific as possible, as "barcoding" could mean employee barcoding or item barcoding, which most likely will result in different suggestions.
