unable to attach or preview document in GP 2015 after upgrading to Windows 10 version 1803 OS Build 17134.228

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We recently had a strange issue, as users laptop gets new windows 10 laptop (win ver 10 build1803) we noticed that in all those laptops. They are unable to preview or attach a document.  We get the error message unable to preview document.

Our GP 2015 is ver 14.00.1059. I also noticed in the event log there was SQL connection timed out error.

(Pre-login initialization=14754 handshake=13627) This happens only when you try to preview a vendor card attachment or try to attach a document.  All the protocols are enabled on the sql server (TCP/IP and Named Pipes). We don't use the default port 1433. I also enabled firewall inbound and outbound rule for the port. And odbc driver connection used is SQL Native Client 11.0

Any inputs or suggestions are most appreciated. I am also planning to see if I can add exceptions to GP folders in the windows defender.

thanks

Ganesh

Unfortunately, the issue remains the same, even after applying in the patch. :(

This issue happens in GP 2015 versions only, so you have to update the latest patch then it will work.

    Hope this helps!

Additional Note: Other GP 2015 users on Windows 10 Build 1709 are able to attach and preview just fine. The issue is only for users on upgraded to Windows 10 Build 1803.
