Asset management - how do I specify that is external asset, owned by the customer but maintained by the manufacture

Here is my case:

The manufacturer produces many assets that are sold via the project module to the end customer.

I would like to use Asset Management to plan for service similar to Field Service, but with all transactions inside FinOps.

I see that the new Asset mobile app has almost the same features as Field Service so it will work really well for the purpose of planning for service and maintenance, but I can't figure out how to make sure that the asset will not be in the plant's balance and how to clearly show that it is a customer asset.

I am guessing that since I am selling it in the project, there is a connection where all the cost will land in the project and from there I can choose what cost to invoice the customer, but I haven't tested it.

    Hi Hana!

It does not answer my question.

My question is - If you have a plant that uses FinOps. The plant sell stuff. Could you register them as assets in FinOps and could you use the asset management app to manage service order/work orders without affecting the financial balance of the plant? The advantage would be that you already have all the connections to projects that the Asset is sold in and you could more easily trigger the production of spare parts.

I don't see why you need Field Service when you have Asset Management app (except for the connection to the balance).

    Hi MissH,

Field service application is an easy-to-use mobile app for iOS, Android, and Windows devices guides field technicians through the process of resolving assigned work orders. For each work order, the field technician can view important information such as location, step-by-step instructions, customer assets, and service history, and can use their device to take pictures and videos or record a digital customer signature.

The article describes the integration of field service with F&O systems, not the asset management mobile app. Hope the link below will help you.

    Hi Hana!

I have read the links several times and I still do not see the need to connect the Asset Management mobile app to Field Service. I do not see the added value for the customer, when you can do almost the same inside FinOps (with all connections already in place), why would you connect outside?

    Hi MissH,

The Asset Management mobile app provides the  capabilities to manage work orders and create maintenance requests for workers and organizations that use Asset Management for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management.

For detailed functions of the app, please refer to the following link :

Asset Management mobile app overview - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service is designed to service customer assets. Asset management for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management is designed to maintain in-house assets. Integration of these two apps lets you use Field Service to service both customer assets and in-house assets. Relevant information is in the link below:
