Is there any way to execute a network path from the link of an item record?

Posted on by 44
Is my understanding that we cannot add an on-prem network path link to an item card using the BC cloud and expect it to work since it is not an internet/intranet link.  I am wondering how others have worked around this?  We have engineering files in PDF format stored locally.  In a perfect world, we would be able to click that link from the item card and launch that file.  We are open to suggestions.

For anyone who comes across this later - to resolve this problem, we uploaded the files to an internal IIS server, which made the path to the files a URL that BC could tolerate.

Hi, If you are using network storage such as OneDrive or Sharepoint, you can use Power Automate without customization.
    Here are some specific examples
How to automatically upload files from OneDrive to Business Central with Power Automate (No customization)
How to import data from a csv file to Business Central with Power Automate (No customization) – csv to JSON
How to export data from Business Central to Google Sheets/Google Drive with Power Automate (No customization)

    Thanks.

I don't believe there is a way. Can you store the files in SharePoint instead of locally? SharePoint links will work.
