I've made a new report in Report Writer from a copy of the Blank Invoice Form. All I want to do is make this new report my default invoice report in GP. I can't seem to figure out how to do so...

Any pointers?

Thanks

When you create a modified report, it places it in the Reports.dic file - located at the file location defined in the Edit Launch File window.

Once you have this, you need to change the report that the users see by changing the report that they are looking at.  To do this on a global basis, open the Alternate Forms and Reports window (on the Administrative tab) and open the name of the Report Group that you want to edit.

Once done, select REPORT from the drop down in the middle box - then when the various modules populate the lowest box, locate the module, say PURCHASE - click the plus sign, this will display the modified reports - click the plus sign beside the name of the report - then choose the option that ends (modified report)

Hope this helps.  Let us know and if needed we can develop screen shots.

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for your help. I'm looking in the Edit Launch File, and I'm a little confused on how to find the file and what steps to take here after. I know it must be putting the file in the "Reports" area on Dictionary Locations, but i have no idea what to actually do with it. I've included a screenshot of my Edit Launch File. Currently, when i'm in the Alternative Forms and Reports Window, my new report isn't showing up - probably because of my Edit Launch File issue.

On the Alternate/Modified Reports screen, when you see Microsoft Dynamics GP (Modified) that is the name holder that the application uses to indicate that "in addition to the out of the box version of the report" there is a modified one.

Click on the radio button beside Modified and then SAVE

If you are running Report Writer on this computer, then at least the Reports.dic file should be located in the Data folder where GP is installed.  If you have it pointing to a 'shared' folder, then the modification will be found there.

    Regarding the Edit Launch file.

Once you have this open, select the application - Microsoft Dynamics GP - then in the three selection windows below, you will see REPORT - it is this path into which the Modified Reports will be saved.  If this is a network installation and there are a number of users, it is likely that all users will have the same record in the Edit Launch file - that way they all use the same modified report.

    Hope this helps.
