Posted on by 510

Hello Dynamics GP Masters, I am Dedy from indonesia

sorry for my english :-)

One of my user had problem when they posting an Assembly Entry

The Assembly Entry posting took a long time maybe is about 7 hour or more and the result was error such like these:

**ERROR  : One or more components contains error

** ERROR : This stock lot number doesn't exist in inventory at this site

I am using GP version 8 and regulary reconcile the inventory module maybe one or three weeks a time

Does anyone may explain about those errors and maybe some advise or a solution for those cases

Best Regard and thank you very much

RE: Posting Assembly Entry take a long time and the result was error

    Dear Mahmoud

Thanks very much for your very detail reply

    Sorry for my late reply

I'll answer one by one for clarity

    1. Does the slow posting occur with other inventory transaction (Inventory Adjustment or Transfer) ?

Answer : Just Assembly and reconcile process take too long time (a few item number assembly and items component) there is no problem with transfer, adjustment and others.

    2. As for Assembly, does this happen with all the items or specific items ?

    Answer : for specific items

    3. What is your inventory valuation method ? FIFO or Average ?

    Answer : FIFO

    4. Do you have a large number of historical records ?

    Answer :

For BOM history assembly header table (SELECT count(*) FROM BM30300) the result = 70023

For BOM history assembly line table (SELECT count(*) FROM BM30300) the result = 520004

For BOM history assembly serial lot table (SELECT count(*) FROM BM30400) the result = 964331

For IV history header table (SELECT count(*) FROM IV30200) the result =  156323

For IV history line table (SELECT count(*) FROM IV30300) the result =   1056742

For IV history amount detail table (SELECT count(*) FROM IV30200) the result =  1979342

For IV history serial lot number table (SELECT count(*) FROM IV30200) the result =  799483

    5. Just curious enough, how many records do you have in IV10200 and IV10201 tables .. in each one of them ?

Answer : execuse me ...what it's mean in each one of them ?

    6. Do you have enough disk space on the SQL server ?

Answer : Free space on C drive is about 4.5 GB .. and the location paging is on another drive with free space about 14.8 GB

    7. How about the hardware resources (RAM for instance), does it fall within the recommended requirements?

Answer : I use 32 bit win 2003 server with PAE so only 4 Gigs RAM and i allocated auto and max setting is maximum RAM that installed.

Any suggest will be very appreciated...

for clarity ..... feel free to ask me again .. i am very happy to answer

    Thanks very much

RE: Posting Assembly Entry take a long time and the result was error

    Let's break down the issue into smaller pieces, seeking to find a usual pattern at which slow posting occurs, I may have several questions for you to consider;

    Inventory related questions:

    • Does the slow posting occur with other inventory transaction (Inventory Adjustment or Transfer) ?
    • As for Assembly, does this happen with all the items or specific items ?
    • What is your inventory valuation method ? FIFO or Average ?
    • Do you have a large number of historical records ?
    • Just curious enough, how many records do you have in IV10200 and IV10201 tables .. in each one of them ?
Posting related questions: (Please get down to these questions in case you have slow posting in any Dynamics GP transaction, not only inventory)
    • Do you have enough disk space on the SQL server ?
    • How about the hardware resources (RAM for instance), does it fall within the recommended requirements?
    Your feedback is highly appreciated,

Restart your SQL server services and restart your computer then correct the error with help of batch edit list and post the transaction.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Hello Soma

    Thanks for the answer

This is a single assembly transaction entry

RE: Posting Assembly Entry take a long time and the result was error

Are you posting a single assembly entry transaction or bulk of transaction from Batches Window? If batch window, then how many transaction saved within the batch? If you have more number of transaction, then it will take more hours to post. Because Assembly Entry Transaction() is a big process.

And the cause of the error is component Items or sub component items of the Assemble Item may not have the correct Serial/Lot number. Before posting, you have print the batch edit list report to view the errors for  component items of appropriate level.

    Hope this helps!!!
