Security Privileges

Posted on by 5

Hi,
I am facing some issues related to the security privileges.
I want to restrict a case record to read only if the owner of the case is in different business unit. I have a Customer Lookup field on the form which is required. The security privileges are totally dependent on the customer owner's business unit which should depend on the Case Owner's business unit.
Can any one tell me how this should be resolved?
Thanks

Yes, My understanding is the same. But in this scenario it is depending on the Customer's owner not the Case owner! Customer is the required lookup field on the case form

    Hello ,

That is the reason Dynamics provides Organization owned and User/Team owned entity and the access level in the security role. Access level works only for User/Team owned entity and based on ownership of the record  secured the data. This is how security model in dynamics 365 has been designed. Business unit is nothing but secured the data based on ownership of the records for different unit for an organization.

Yes, I already did this. But the issue is if the customer's owner is in the different Business Unit then the case have no Update privileges but if the Customer's owner is in the same Business Unit then the case record have the all privileges. My question is why the case record's privileges is dependent on the Customer's owner BU whether it should depend on the Case Owner's BU?

Do you want give modify access to the user only when  the case owner are in same business unit. If yes in that case you can simply give the DEEP level access for READ and LOCAL access level for WRITE in the case entity.

The thing is why it is dependent on that lookup record's owner? It should dependent on the case owner's Business Unit
