We had global search working and then applied December 2016 Update 2 (KB 3205084)
In the time since, it seems we've started getting SQL errors
After reviewing the error messages, I realized the problem appeared to be caused by the Quick Find View trying to display results from a related entity. When I removed the columns for displaying a related entity's data from the Quick Find Views, the problem was resolved. However, it created a new problem in that it broke the Quick Find results we had configured which users wanted - to see some data from a related entity.
This behavior seems to have started after application of KB3205084 and I can find no documentation on this being a limitation of Global Search.
Has anyone else seen this?
Is this a bug or by design?
