Posting Groups - GL vs AR

Hi all,

On the GL Account Card, if I have filled out Gen Bus PG, Gen Prod PG, GST Bus PG and GST Prod PG then I can't post a journal to that account.

If I remove them, then I can post the journal, but I can't post a Sales Invoice to that account.

Sales Invoice error says: The GST Posting Setup does not exist

Journal error says: Gen. Posting Type must not be in Gen. Journal Line. (None of my GL accounts have a Gen. Posting Type)

What could be causing this issue? Is there something wrong with the way the PG's have been setup or is it some other function?

Thanks for your input and help on this.

You need to have general posting set For each Gen Bus and Gen Prod posting group combination, if you going to use it in Sales/Purchase document.

Hi there - I do have General Posting Setup screen filled out with all the combinations of Gen Bus and Gen Prod; they all have sales accounts, etc. I guess the question is more, why does Journals have an issue when a GL account has PGs assigned to it?

You can untick "Copy GST Setup in Jnl" in General Journal Template/ Journal Batch , system will not copy GST Bus/GST Prod from Chart of account to general journal

Thank you, it was that the Journal Template had the "Copy GST Setup to Jrnl Lines" box ticked. I needed to untick that and now the error message has gone.
