How to restrict inventory

(0) ShareShare

For example we have an item quantity 50 in inventory that is expiring 2/10/2021.

It does not have  any purchase orders or any production orders for any future
Next I am trying to create an order selling qty 10 of this item where my ship date is 2/11/2021. So technically I cannot sell out of that 50 because the product will be expired by 2/10/2021.

How to configure the system so  that system should not let me create this order since neither I have this quantity on hand nor is it incoming.

Is there any way this can be configured? I know one option can be to use ATP but is there any other setup which can help me to restrict?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

You can go to Product Information Management / Released Product, find that product then go to Manage inventory / Order setting / Default order setting.

Over there, go to section Sales Order and select Stopped.

    Hi Dynamicsuser365,

I would go for the 'hard stop' that Anton suggested.

Activating this stop button is a manual task and does not allow to sell anything of that item in the future.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

I know about the Default Order Settings, but is there a list of what Inventory > Stopped actually stops?  For example, could I still put a part number in a sales order and it would not release to the warehouse or pick on a sales order because it is stopped for inventory?

    Hi,

I'm sorry I guess your question is different than the original question by Dynamicsuser365, I suggest later you can create new topic for us to easy track of the issue, also will help the community better.

But anyway for your issue, since you know about Default Order Setting, in this setup there is also section for Inventory -> Stopped, so you can select that one instead. And it will surely stop all the inventory transaction for that item. You can still add new item in Sales Order line and confirm, but cannot Pick nor Pack.

    Regards,

    Thanks,
