We have same problem on CRM Dynamics 2016 SP1 on-premise and Exchange 2013.

When we has CRM Dynamics 2015 0.1 on premise and Exchange 2013, everythink work fine.

After upgrade to CRM 2016 same behavior appear.

I discovered that Server Side synchronization to Exchange doing this.

When i create task in CRM percetcomplete and actualend is null, but when task is synchronized to Exchange, in Exchange is percentage set to 100% and actual end is set too. And in next synchronization record is updated from Exchange to CRM with these values.

    Anybody know what is this?

Was able to get a temporary fix for this issue by changing a setting.  Microsoft is is working on a permanent fix.

    1. Go to SettingsAdministration
    2. Select System Settings
    3. Click the Email tab
    4. Under Configure default synchronization method, select None for the Appointments, Contacts, and Tasks setting

*We are using CRM Dynamics online.  This problem started when the 2016 update was done.

    This not solve our problem.

We must use synchronization to Exchange... :(

With Outlook Exchange?  We also sync with Outlook and even after setting it to None, the sync worked.  You may want to do a test to see if it works.

When i change it in system settings, i think that is only default settings for new MailBox. For using it for existing mailbox, i must test and enable each one or test and enable all mailbox with this server profile. And then synchronization task, appointements will stop working to our Exchange (i think...).

And i cant use Outlook client, because some user doesnt use Outlook....

We have a case open with Microsoft on this issue.  They said that it was a bug and they are working on it to get it fixed.  I will post an update once I get it.

We opened a case with Microsoft last week, but person which will solve our problem is out of Office. He will contact us tomorrow. I know that it is bug, same bug they had in Dynamics CRM 2015 online 7.1.2 update and they released service update.

Microsoft write us, that bug will be solved in CRM rollup 8.1.1... :(

But I found solution, tasks is autoclosed only for task with status "Not Started".

I created workflow on task which started when record is created or updated and its state is Open and status reason is "Not started". Workflow change status to "In progress", then task is still opened and synchronized.

Maybe i will create plugin instead of workflow.

Thanks for the information. I had an open ticket with MS about this too. Do you have an eta on the rollup 1 for CRM 8.1?  and would you mind sharing the ticket number so I can point my MS guys to that?

I have had a customer with a similar issue. I have changed the standard value of the "status Reason" field of the task to "in progress" as suggested. I am awaiting if this has helped. This would be an easier workaround than a workflow or even a plugin.
