Make a lookup column in a grid unclickable

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi All,

This might sound like a weird requirement, users wanted the lookup to be present on the grid but they wanted that to be non accessible (look up the grid is from a template entity which shouldn't be tampered).

Please let me know if there are any ideas/suggestions to address this issue.

Thanks,

Vinod

I know this is creating huge problem , when we want to change lookup field unintentionally we are clicking on the lookup and its not opening the list rather its redirecting the lookup record and its sometimes waste of time when you create record and filled most of the field. This is by design we can not change this in supported way although I have tried unsupported way but failed.

So what I suggest to do when we want to change make sure user need to click on search icon carefully instead of the textbox of lookup field.

When you want to remove any value from lookup just select the search box and then press delete from keyboard.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Vinod,

There is no supported way to do that and I don't know any unsupported approach. I'm really sorry.
