Sending CRM appointments to external contacts

Hi,

I am looking for a solution to send appointment in CRM to external contacts. By default I think CRM will not send appointments.

Is there any solution or third party tools which you can suggest to solve this issue. The contacts may be using gmail or another mail clients not necessarily outlook. I am using CRM 2015 online.

Creating ics file can be an option. Not sure this can be done in online. Also not sure if it is supported in all mail clients.

Please advise.

    Hi Pramod,

When a user creates an appointment in CRM, no e-mail is created and sent to an external recipient. The system would need to either have a workflow running or some customization

the recipient would need to receive a specific file format in order for the recipient's Outlook to add a calendar item.  This also requires customization.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    R.Rajkumar

If you want to automate required process:  You can send email to client with help of aync workflow. In this email contains date time and other required details. You can also use os templets(html) for sending email.

If you are using outlook : you can convert your dynamics crm appointments to meeting Requests.

I don't want to send an email.  I am looking for a solution where I can send appointment directly or as an attachment (ics file), and when user double click on this it will be added to their appointment. The main intention is that it should remind the user of the appointment. Email will not cater to that purpose.

Since CRM 2013 serversidesync is available.
It provides the ability to sync appointments, task and contacts directly to Exchange without the need to Outllook.

It means that when you create an appointment in CRM and add a contact as attendee after saving the appointment is synchronized to Exchange. Exchanges processes the appointment the same way as an appointment you created in Outlook. Exchange send a meeting invitation to the attendee.
