Data Import and Date + Time

Hi,

I'm importing data into CRM, and I'm encountering a problem where imports are failing where there is a date and time field.

Can you import the date and time a record was created from one system to another?

Another thing I have noticed is that in the exported XML file from CRM the columns that are meant to be holding date and time data are filled with #######. Why is this?

If you expand the column width in excel you will see the date properly. In order to import date time into crm make sure the import file has column type has datetime in case of date time field in crm.

Thanks for the response, increasing the column width fixed the first issue. I don't quite understand the second half of the answer "In order to import date time into crm make sure the import file has column type has datetime in case of date time field in crm."

Would it be possible to explain further?

I Keep getting, "the date/time format is not valid, or the value is outside the supported range"

in the source file make sure date time column type is set to date time.

Select the date/time column in Excel and then right click and choose "Format Cells" and choose one of the relevant category format i.e: Date and choose the format that relates to the date time format of the system, then save and try to import again

Thanks guys, I'll see if that helps.

    That seems to have worked.

One more question. How come if you export, for example, a price list and in the excel spreadsheet you have 'modified on' as a column, if you import it into a system that does not have a field for 'modified on' in the wizard and you choose to ignore it, it causes the import to fail. Even though you told it to ignore it?

Modified on is a system field and you can't update that field value. Even if you don't choose ignore system will automatically ignores this field value.

It turns out I have another problem.

I have two isolated incidents of accounts failing to import because of the source data not being in the required format. The field is 'created on'. However, if I look at my excel spreadsheet the dates are in the correct format and are exactly the same format as the other 38 accounts that have imported successfully.
