The description in this role states:
Access to the tables is only necessary to report data from within Report Writer.
Just to clarify, if I'm the only person (for example) with access to open Report Writer and modify reports, does the above mean I am the only one who needs these Task permissions?

Looking at this specific security task, it is only giving users access to files for the SmartList module / 1493, so based on that, I think this task is more for users running SmartList reports than it is for users going into Report Writer and modifying reports, as it doesn't give users access to anything but 'file' objects. I.e. no windows, reports, etc.

Maybe it was the way I worded this.
I want to know if this role only apply to users who are in Report Writer making modifications to reports?
Based on the Printed task list it shows alot of stuff I don't want just anyone to have access to, but if it is strictly talking about Report Writer, then that's okay.

This is a tough question for someone to answer for you, as we can't really tell a customer what they do and do not need for security access.
If you bring up this ADMIN_SYSTEM_SL05 security task in the Security Tasks Setup window, click the Print button, there is a report that breaks down the security task by what operations it gives a user access to. (I.e. windows, reports, files, posting permissions, navigation lists, etc.)
This report may help explain whether or not you are the only user that needs access to this specific security task, or whether other users may as well.
