Version 9 for on-premise?

Has anyone heard any mutterings yet about when/if we're getting 9.0 for on-premise?  And if not, what/when we would be getting?  I still haven't seen a single mention one way or the other - only the fact that it has obviously been rolled out for online, but isn't available on-prem yet.  I don't want to assume that means it's never coming, but...

    Hi Allison, as with all versions, Online gets 2 releases per year, and On-Prem only gets one.

    I would think that we will probably be seeing the next version together, as 8.2 was released for both On-Prem and Online.

    We should be expecting this around the end of the year, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

    All of this is just speculations...

    Hopefully soon.

    Hi Allison,

    I don't know the official date, but even though trial versions of on-line come in version 9.0, older instances online won't be able to update until early December.

    I'm not sure what the timeline will be for on prem, but I'm guessing it will be in the same timeline.

    I know this isn't the exact answer you are looking for, but that should give you a general idea.

    Aric - yeah, my understanding with that two a year schedule though was that one (the online only) was supposed to be released in spring, and the one for both in the fall, which is partially why this was confusing (since 8.2 was released late 2016, IIRC).  Plus I'd initially heard that major releases would be for both.  If 9.0 is for online only, I wish they would just clearly state anywhere in the release notes that it is for online only.  This lack of definitiveness is deeply annoying.

    David - so you think that on-prem is in fact getting version 9.0, but it just isn't available yet?  Have you seen anything that actually confirms that on-prem is getting a 9.0 release (or isn't)?  I haven't, and it's driving me crazy.

    Hi Allison,

    As far as availability for on-prem goes, I genuinely have no idea. I wouldn't want to speculate. All I figure is IF the on prem is getting 9.0, it might be facing the same delay as the On-line.

    I'll try to get more information for you though!

    I appreciate it!  I get that timelines can get shifted by various things, and so those are hard/impossible to be definitive on, but...  Presumably whether or not it's even going to be available at all is known and has been known for a long time, so the lack of statement one way or the other is a bit frustrating - it makes planning difficult.  :-)

    I am also looking for information about version 9 for on-premise as we are almost ready to switch to 365 from 2013.  The online version has nice visual features, such as color blocking and more user-friendly page layouts, etc.   If anyone knows, that would be helpful, but it's definitely difficult to tell with the announcements.
