Version 9 for on-premise?

Has anyone heard any mutterings yet about when/if we're getting 9.0 for on-premise?  And if not, what/when we would be getting?  I still haven't seen a single mention one way or the other - only the fact that it has obviously been rolled out for online, but isn't available on-prem yet.  I don't want to assume that means it's never coming, but...

Issues and questions about installation/upgrade should be on separate threads - they are different issues, and the question from this thread has already been answered.  Creating a new thread with your issue would give people the best visibility to it.

I set up a test VM for the Insider preview version of 9.0 on-premise using Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2016 SP1.

The Insider preview version of 9.0 required SQL Server 2016 SP2.

It would not surprise me if 9.0 also requires a minimum of Windows Server 2016.

For a major version leap, you are better off setting up a new environment and importing your org into it. It ensures upkeep on your back-end techno (Windows Server, IIS, SQL, etc.) and it gives you the chance to test the new environment before switching over to the new version.

I am getting the error "The computer is running an operating system that Dynamics 365 does not support".  I am trying to upgrade v8.2.2 on Windows Server 2012 R2 server.  I find it hard to believe that an OS upgrade is necessary for the v9 upgrade.

I would not recommend in place upgrade. it would be better if create separate VM with windows server 2016 and install Dynamics365 v9.0 after that you can import your organization database in new environment. it will upgrade your dynamics version and it will be safe and easy way.

I'm sure you have found it already but here is the v9.0 download link - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=57478

Only thing is I cannot find any comprehensive install instructions...

Any help/pointers from anyone who has already been through an on-prem upgrade would be great!

    RE: Version 9 for on-premise?

Thank you. So to upgrade from Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows 2016 - how will this affect my Dynamics CRM installation if i do an  in place upgrade?  Server is a VM. Has this been done and tested by anyone?  Are there any hitches i should be aware of before proceeding?  or do we have to build a new machine?

    RE: Version 9 for on-premise?

Please can someone confirm the following:  We have CRM installed on a WIndows Server 2012 R2 server.  Do we have to upgrade the Server to 2016 before proceeding to CRM ver 9.0?  If so, can we do an inplace upgrade of the server software to 2016?  Not sure what is the best way to tackle this one.....
