Bin Location quantity adjustment

We are having a challange whereby our client did a take-on of  inventory ITEMS but left out bin quantities now we want to import these quantities to the bins without necessarily affecting our current inventory and our GL. The transaction must only affect bin contents (Quantities). Would you be able to assist?

After this we should be able to sell these items using Sales order.

I have the same question (0)

For this you should use the item reclassification journal. There you can enter the old bin code (blank) and the new bin code. That will not effect G/L.

This document is about locations, but you can apply the same method for Bin

Hi, just adding to Inge's reply. There are a few things to note.

If you enable the following setting in the location card, this problem should not occur.

"Bin Mandatory: Specifies if the location requires that a bin code is specified on all item transactions."

It is indeed very convenient to transfer Bin in Item Reclassification Journals, but it has a default control.

"Bin Mandatory must have a value in Location: Code=WEST. It cannot be zero or empty."

And if there are already open ledger entries in the location, this setting cannot be enabled.

"You cannot change Bin Mandatory because there are one or more open ledger entries on this location."

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.
