Close inventory transactions

Hi folks,

Currently I have the situation that i want to empty on-hand of a location completely. So i have set all physical quantities to zero (Invent count). But now there is still a financial value left on my invent sum record which prevents the system to close it. The inventory model for the item is standard cost.

How can i close all inventory transactions for my item or how can i correct the financial value to zero?

    Hi AX86,

Have you run an inventory recalculation for your item after taking out all the quantity through an inventory counting journal?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Ludwig,

Yes, I tried but, it had no effect on inventory transaction values due to standard cost model. This was my first try, but it wasn't successful.

    Kind regards

    Hi AX86,

How can this happen with standard costs?

Did you do some standard cost revaluations before?

Have you tried making use of the adjustment functionality in the closing and adjustment form?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

I think that for standard costs no adjustment can be done as the function does not include any item transactions. I'm not very familar with the invent closing processes in AX, so maybe I just use it wrong.

You should not look at On-hand inventory value by warehouse location, since it is not possible to ask AX to track financial inventory by location. When looking at inventory value, you should enable only the Inventory Dimensions which have 'Financial inventory' ticked.

What problem is this open financial amount at the location level causing?

Thank you Guy Terry for your information.

We want to change a location profile, which means that all locations using this profile are not allowed to have any on-hand. Therefore I emptied all locations, but AX still don't let me edit the location profile. So I thought that the open inventory transactions might be the reason.

What's the exact error you get when you try to change the location profile?

When I try to disable "Use license plate tracking" =>

License plate tracking cannot be changed if locations for location profile LOC-PROFILE contain inventory.

When I try to change the profile on the locations form =>

"Location profile cannot be changed to a location profile with a different license plate tracking status if the location contains inventory."

Thanks. Probably you ended up in WHSLocationProfile.isInUseWithInventoryTransactions and see that it is checking for non-Closed records in InventSum.

I think you have two ways forward.

If you have access to this data in a test environment, I suggest you try the 'On-hand entries aggregation by financial dimensions' clean-up job. It became available with R3 CU9.

    blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../key-clean-up-features-for-inventsum-and-inventdim-tables

It might well delete the records which have an open value (only) at the location level.

(Note that if you are not already on CU12, you should get the updated KB2951209, else you will get errors changing standard costs after running this job).

If that doesn't help, and you're sure the relevant locations really do have no physical inventory in them, you could log it with Microsoft. Perhaps AX should only check for Physical Inventory when changing the Location profile. I had some success with this in the past; in WMSII days, AX was checking Financial Inventory when changing the Location type, and MS hotfixed it not to (KB2950009).
